Born in 1966, Dr Abdul Muttalib started his orthopedic carrier as a House officer in Hospital Melaka in 1992. He completed his Master study from University Kebangsaan Malaysia 10 years later and was returned back to Hospital Melaka as a specialist in year 2001. Since then he started to explore into almost all facet of Orthopedic Services including office management and practices. His main interest is in spine and arthoplasty. From a young budding surgeon, he eventually be made as Head of Department in Orthopedic Department Hospital Melaka in 2007. Despite being the youngest head department in a state hospital during that time, he manage to polish the department to become the Best Clinical Department in 2007 and 2008 and respected by others with their excellent KPI outcomes. In mid 2009, he was transferred to Hospital Segamat to start orthopedic service there. From an unknown district hospital at the middle of no-where, he lead a massive transformation of the hospital to eventually a major specialist hospital in 2016. Back to Hospital Melaka for awhile in March 2021, he was then transferred for another time to Hospital Tuanku Jaafar in July 2023. He lead the department since then and in January 2024, he was appointed as the National Head of orthopedic services. Together we build a better future as his hashtag trademark, he wishes orthopedic will emerged as a discipline that will lead the medical fraternity to serve the people with honour.

Dr Sabarul Afian Mokhtar is the Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery (Spine) at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He is the founding member and the past President of the Malaysia Spine Society. He is the council member and head of Special Interest Group for Education, Malaysian Orthopaedics Association. He obtained his Medical Degree and Orthopaedic Specialty training from UKM. He continued subspecialty training in the field of Spine Surgery with Professor Shoichi Kokubun at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan and a PhD Clinical Fellow for Spine Surgery at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University, Sydney. He was the pioneer orthopaedic surgeon working and doing research at the Macquarie University Hospital and completed his PhD entitled “Development of a Model for Assessment and Predicting Outcome in Surgery for Degenerative Disorder of the Lumbosacral Spine” where his research and practices mainly focused on the ageing spine. He is currently the head of Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. He has served as the Deputy Dean at Faculty of Medicine UKM, Deputy Director of UKM Medical Centre and Deputy Director, Pro Vice Chancellor of Medical and Health Campus UKM. He is actively involved in the undergraduate and postgraduate education at both national and international level by being the member of the National Orthopaedic Curriculum Committee (NOCC) and ASEAN Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Education Committee. He has established the Fracture Liaison Service in Malaysia which was awarded the Silver Award in 2019 and Gold Award in 2022 by the International Osteoporosis Federation (IOF). He has presented and authored in a significant number of scientific papers that are testimony to his clinical and research interests in spinal disorders, pain management and osteoporosis. He has been conferred with numerous awards for his services, academic and research achievement in the field.

Professor Dr Vivek Ajit Singh graduated as an undergraduate from the University of Malaya in 1984. He worked in Hospital Muar and Mersing before enrolling at the University Malaya for a Master in Orthopaedic surgery. He completed his Master in 2001 and was awarded the Subramaniam Gold Medal for the best clinical Master’s student. Subsequently, in 2002, he was awarded a Fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. He worked at Penang General Hospital as an Orthopedic surgeon and was awarded a fellowship scholarship by the Ministry of Health in 2003 to pursue orthopaedic oncology in Birmingham, UK (The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital).
